This is co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.
As a teaching assistant your role is to support the classroom teacher to deliver the Curriculum and contribute to making the school an Outstanding provision and a leading light for young people and their families. The secondary school provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment and are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.
Your role as Teaching Assistant you will enhance the Secondary learning environment for pupils, supporting our teachers to promote personal development and well-being for all. You will help setup the classrooms, lead on small parts of lessons, keep accurate records to track pupil progress and contribute to lesson planning. It is essential you are aware of pupil progress and able to flag potential concerns. Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your Secondary responsibility.
The school are looking for an individual with high expectations and standards who can offer excellent supportive skills. You will be working with young people who have complex needs and your ability to develop trusting relationships with the young people and staff will be crucial. You will be able to reliably work to instruction as well as take the initiative when circumstances demand. An interest in teaching and a desire to improve these pupil's lives is essential.
