Makaton and PECS are used daily by children and staff.

Person Specification

Special Needs teaching assistant -ASD, PMLD and complex needs

The successful candidates need to have

* previous experience of working with SEN students
* a strong desire of getting involved in every aspect of the school.
* Experience with children and young adults that have complex needs would be preferable.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with other staff
* The ability to use initiative and works well under
* Resilient and experienced with feeding and changing kids. Manual handling and hoist training would be beneficial.
* Empathetic someone who has patience and can build rapport with complex needs

About the Role - Special Needs Teaching assistant -ASD, PMLD and complex- Haringey

* Inspiring and engaging with young adults with physical and mental difficulties;
* Assessing individual learning needs and working on a group basis;
* Preparing materials, equipment and lessons;
* Providing care for kids who are non- verbal being proactive in embracing new learning techniques is part of the job.
* Assisting with the personal care needs of pupils; this may include feeding, changing and manual handling.
