What is a teaching assistant’s role in the classroom?
As an English, Science, Maths graduate teaching assistant you will be required to provide 1:1 and group support to Year 7 to Year 13 students and also provide small group intervention groups. You will also lead revision sessions in the run up to GCSE and A-Level exams. Moreover you will be provided with keen support and direction from the teachers and Head of Department.
This English, Maths and Science Graduate Teaching Assistant role is ideal for aspiring Teachers and you will be entitled to Schools Direct training the following year should you excel in the role. This is a great alternative to the PGCE as it’s free of charge and the school will support you with the training to become a qualified teacher.
What type of teaching assistant are schools looking for?
As an English, Science and Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you must be a recent university graduate with a 2:1 or higher degree. The Head Teachers are keen to recruit a number of confident, articulate and personable Graduate Teaching Assistants who are available from September. You must enjoy working with secondary school students and be available for the entire academic year. You will be paid from £60 to £80 per day depending on experience.
