The school..

This is an OFSTED rated good secondary school in Redbridge that are seeking a Learning Mentor to work in their prestigious secondary school. They have an excellent reputation within the Borough of Redbridge. The school are very well established and have excellent relationships with the local LEA and the Governors. The SLT here are respected and have the best interests of the students and the teachers at heart. Having recently undergone a change of Headteacher, the school have had a year to settle into the new movement and ethos of the school. The benefits of this are excellent CPD programmes, outstanding behaviour and a real desire to make this the best school in the Borough.

The role..

As a Learning Mentor, you’ll provide a service to complement the Teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of learners who require help in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential. You will work with a range of learners, giving priority to those who need it the most. The role is primarily focused on challenging behaviour and attendance of students who have been recommended to you for mentoring.

The candidate..

The ideal candidate will be a resilient and personable character. Although no formal qualifications are required, it would be helpful to have a HND or degree in a core subject, Psychology, Sociology or Social/Care Work. The Learning Mentor holds an important role in the school and would need to be organised, ambitious and want to make a difference.
