Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional obstacles to learning? Are you caring, empathetic, patient and hard working?
We are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to start in September on full time & long term basis at a secondary special needs school in Hackney. This could be a temporary to permanent requirement for the right person. Interviews or Trial days to be arranged in the next couple of weeks so apply quickly if interested!
The right person for this SEN Teaching Assistant role will have prior experience and knowledge of assisting young people with SEN, will be empathetic, patient, adaptable and resilient to changing and challenging situations. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with some of our most vulnerable pupils and help them make progress while building your skills, knowledge and experience.
You will sometimes be required to work on a 1:1 basis but most will involve small group work while you support the class teacher in delivering lessons. The school is rated outstanding by Ofsted across the board and caters for children aged 11-19 with a wide range of special needs. Pupils enjoy their time at school and build strong relationships with staff. Staff are patient, understanding and supportive. Management and staff together create a safe, happy and inclusive environment which any supply member of staff would need to contribute to as well.
The school has a great location in Hackney, close to other amenities and transport links aswell as onsite parking.
The children all have an EHCP for Special Needs including Autism, Complex Needs and PMLD. Many pupils have sensory needs, communication needs, physical needs and emotional needs. Some pupils require personal care and moving & handling support but not all of the SEN Teaching Assistant staff need to do this.
